Week 4 // MY SIN
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
Check out the series full Preach & Discussion notes.
Making Confession a regular element of our devotional life leads us into a lifestyle of healthy self-examination and wholeness. We need to ask God to search our hearts so that we can deal with areas of Sin in our lives at all levels:
- Gross Sins (those widely recognised by all)
- Conscious Sins (those we recognise in ourselves)
- Unconscious Sins (those we're not aware of, unexamined biases & prejudices)
- Trust Structures (fundamental sources of happiness we rely on instead of God)
Take time in your prayer, once you've been through Adoration, Intercession & Petition:
REQUEST
Ask God to shine the light of his Spirit in your inmost being
REFLECT
Take time to examine yourself, sift through motives, think through your actions and prayerfully let God reveal areas of brokenness to you
RECEIVE & RELEASE
Receive God's forgiveness for yourself and release your forgiveness to others, whether they ask for it or not.
Take a couple of moments for self-examination and confession in prayer. Tick on each day as you pray. You can make a note of what you prayed and anything you felt God speaking to you.
